THESSALONIKI FLYOVER, The new Eastern Ring Road of Thessaloniki
The tender was announced on September 19 for THESSALONIKI FLYOVER, the new ring road in the city of Thessaloniki. The date for submission of offers of interest is November 19, 2020. It is a construction project of high standards for which there will be a public tender in September 2020. The largest flyover in Greece. 13 km upgrading of the existing road. 8 new bridges. 3 new tunnels. 8 km of elevated road. 4 km of continuous Flyover bridge. Indicative budget 370 million € (PLUS VAT). Partnership of Public and Private Sector PPP. EMPLOYER: THE GREEK GOVERNMENT. This project covers a period of up to 30 years. 4 years are estimated to relate to the construction period and 26 years to the operating period. Payments to the Constructor will be made on an annual basis. The Constructor will undertake the construction, financing and maintenance of the project for the agreed period. The opportunity for Chinese companies concerns experience in similar projects and the ability to finance the project. ONE OF THE LARGEST BASKETBALL CLUBS IN EUROPE FOR SALE
Owner of Panathinaikos Basketball Club, Dimitris Giannakopoulos announced that that he is selling Panathinaikos BC. The price is 25,000,000 euros. According to estimators, just the value of the commercial brand reached 75 million euros. Giannakopoulos family has spent a sum of around 372 million euros from 1987 to 2012 for Panathinaikos BC. The parent athletic club was founded in 1908, while the basketball team was created in 1919, being one of the oldest in Greece. Alongside with team “Aris”, they are the only un-relegated teams with participation in every Greek First Division Championship until today. Panathinaikos has developed into the most successful basketball club in Greek basketball’s history, and one of the most successful in European basketball, creating its own dynasty. They have won six EuroLeague Championships, thirty-eight Greek Basket League Championships, nineteen Greek Cups, one Intercontinental Cup and two Triple Crowns. They also hold the record for most consecutive Greek League titles, as they are the only team to have won nine consecutive championships (2003–2011), as well as for the most consecutive Greek Basketball Cup titles, winning six from 2012 to 2017.

CENTRALIZING OUTSOURCING in GREECE
Greece offers a pro-business environment, a modern legal framework, and competitive financial incentives for the establishment of Global Business Services/ Shared Service Centers and BackOffice and FrontOffice Outsourcing/BPO centers.
Greece also offers a set of Financial incentives in the form of Financial grants to enable companies centralizing captive operations and achieve cost effectiveness.
a) Job Creation Subsidy-Grant .
50% of total wage cost for up to 100 permanent full-time employees recruited in the first five years of operation for up to twelve 12 months following their recruitment, and up to the amount corresponding to gross salary maximum of 2,000 euros per month.
b) Training Program Subsidy-Grant
50% of the cost for training new employees related to the new activity
c) CAPEX Subsidy- Grant & Wage Cost Subsidy-Grant.
50% of the equipment & software purchase cost and wage cost of any new employees who serve the new activity for up to 12 months following their recruitment, and up to the amount corresponding to gross salary of 2,000 Euros per month. The above costs are eligible up to 400,000 Euros.
d) R&D Grants
Foreign companies wishing to establish R&D centers in Greece for the purpose of providing research and development services that fall into one of the categories a) industrial research; b) experimental research and c) feasibility studies are supported with cash grants to cover part of the eligible costs:
- Personnel costs.
- costs of buildings, instruments, equipment.
- costs of contractual research and consulting services used exclusively for the project.
- additional overheads and other operating expenses.
- costs for feasibility studies.
In addition, in Greece, according to article 22 of the Income Tax Code, scientific and technological research expenses, which include depreciation of equipment and instruments used for the needs of scientific and technological research, are deducted from gross income of companies increased by one hundred percent (100%). So the R&D center in Greece has huge benefits for foreign investors.

NEW TENDER FOR 850 MILLION EUROS FOR 7.5 MILLION SMART ELECTRICITY METERS
HEDNO announces new tender for 850 million euros for 7.5 million smart electricity meters
According to information, the big project of HEDNO (Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator SA) https://www.deddie.gr/en/ will start very soon for the installation of 7.5 million “smart meters”, ie new intelligent metering systems. power consumption at low voltage.
The supply will be made with a single tender for the supply and installation of smart meters in all electricity consumption meters in the country, as well as a nationwide telemetry center, which will have central hardware – software equipment and corresponding equipment to support mobile devices.
The total project has a budget of 850 million euros and most of the funds HEDNO aspires to raise it through loan programs of the EU Recovery Fund in which the Ministry of Energy intends to include the project.
NEW WASTE TREATMENT PLANTS WORTH 1.2 BILLION EUROS
By the end of 2020, 17 modern Waste Treatment Plants worth 1.2 billion euros will have been auctioned in Greece. Today in Greece there are only 6 Waste Treatment Plants and the Greek government has already approved the PPP programs for the new units.
